A Positive Growth Mindset

Dear children,

Day 2 of the CA1 exams has ended. How are you feeling right now?

No matter what results you will achieve, just remember that this is a good opportunity to reflect on what we have done well and what we can improve on. Learn from the mistakes made and always have a positive mindset. Persevere on and you will improve!

All the best in the upcoming exams! You can do it! :)

Diligence & Perseverance

Dear children,

We learnt more about two school values - diligence and perseverance - in our assembly period today. Hope that you will remember the messages that Mrs Choh and the drama club shared with us. Let us all endeavour to do our best in all that we do as we prepare for the upcoming PSLE! Gambatte! :)

Thumbs up to Bernice, Georgia & the drama club members for putting up a stellar performance! All of you were awesome! :)

Work Hard & Smart!

Dear children,

How time flies! In the blink of an eye, it's already week 7 and the CA1 exams are just round the corner. How is your revision coming along?

Do revv up your engines if you have not started preparing for the exams. One good tip to do well is to use the strategies that you have been taught.

Additionally, it is important to persevere on even when you face challenging questions. Just do your best and you will be the best! :)

ICT: Algebra

Dear Maths professors,

How awesome are you with the topic 'Algebra'? Try the following to find out!

Have fun! :)

Overlapping Region

Hello, children!

Let's do some revision on overlapping regions (area) with a virtual geoboard.

Example:
The figure below is made up of 2 squares of different lengths. What fraction of the whole figure is Part C?

Image result for overlapping squares in maths

Observe & understand...
  1. There are 2 squares in this figure.
  2. Part of the smaller square overlaps with the larger square i.e. Part C
  3. The entire figure is formed with 3 parts, namely A, B & C.

Think...
How can we find the total no. of units that the entire figure has?
  1. Count the total no. of big parts that form the entire figure. (3 parts, namely A, B & C.)
  2. Find the no. of units for each of the big parts.
  3. Entire figure = Part A + Part B + Part C
Common mistake:
Entire figure = Square 1 + Square 2

Why is this incorrect?
